The Eden Rescue Squad has contributed to the community by being starting point for 40 or more members who have gone on to pursue careers in Fire, EMS, 9-1-1 dispatching, and Law Enforcement. Each of these started as volunteers with little or no experience in the rescue squad. Paid pension fund, scholarships, disability income if injured in the line of duty, death benefits (in the line of duty), a wide variety of training, and much more.
The Mission of Eden Rescue Squad is to provide a high quality volunteer service to the citizens of Eden and Rockingham County. Serving the citizens in an injury, illness, or environmental situation, preservation of life and property, assisting those injured as a result of automobile collision, fire, other disasters and public education. Eden Rescue Squad provides primary rescue services to Eden and 1/3 of Rockingham County and mutual aid to other departments that request our assistance. The rescue squad provides basic life support
To become a member of the Eden Rescue Squad, you have to come to 6 meetings. Once you have your 6 meetings, you will have to fill out an application and get a driving history from NC DMV and a criminal history. Your application will be reviewed and the members of the rescue squad will vote on you, Then you have a 6 month probation period, after being accepted into the squad. You will receive a training packet that will have to be completed with the 6 months. Upon completion of the training packet you will be voted on once again for full membership in to the Eden Rescue Squad.
The rescue squad needs your help! The call volume over the last 10-12 years has doubled. The one thing that is not increasing is the membership. In order for this agency to be able to continue operating, we need volunteers from the community. If you think you might be interested in volunteering for the Eden Rescue Squad.
